Insomnia

This is bad; really bad. It's almost 2am and I'm still unable to get to sleep!! Physically and mentally fatigued, but my sleep centre's simply not working. Didn't take any coffee since my morning cuppa ... why?? Going to be like a zombie tomorrow at school. Oh, I really could use a trip down to the Sleep Disorder department. Maybe I do need some help. Not in the mood to do my 3rd writeup either, so I'm just surfing around and trying to coax myself to sleep.

Almost unremarkable day. Spent my morning buying new piping (again!?) for the pump. Really had to, since my yuma mushrooms are really in bad shape due to the heat. When I started the chiller again, the thermostat recorded 32C in the tank! Yikes. No wonder the corals were hating me. Finally found the elusive 1" threaded hose I needed, albeit at a price - $5.50 per metre. Thankfully I needed only 1m. Got everything fired up and running, so far no hitches - touch wood!!

Had to go down to Jurong to fill my car up, so made a short trip down to some of the farms at Lim Chu Kang. Came back with clove polyps, yellow polyps, one Sinularia "Devil's Hand", a Sinularia "Kenya Tree" and brown Xenia. All in tank now, need some re-arranging but that can wait till I'm more free. Which won't be till ... 16th Oct when this drawn-out period is finally over? I'm eyeing some Cynarina, white "pulsing pompom" Xenia, bubble coral, and more zoanthids come November.

While at the farm I noticed some baby sparrows thrust in a box in a corner, so I asked one of the workers if they were feeding them. Apparently they were just leaving the poor things to die - think they fell off their nest - so of course they went back home with me! Gah .. now I have another batch of adopted birds in need of nursing. I really should change profession - Bird Nurse! The silly pigeon we saved as a baby is still in my garden after 3 weeks - the little bugger refused to fly off. Think something could be wrong with its wing, since it's just flapping around and hopping.

The little feather-balls are starting to eat a mixture of cereal and condensed milk (had to make do, ran out of chick formula!) from a modified beak-shaped spoon. Eeeks. Ran out of bird vitamins! I'm just giving them poor fare right now, just to get the caloric intake up with a high fat composition in the food so they won't starve. Shall ask yx to buy worms tomorrow and we'll attempt some solid food. At least they weren't as smelly as the 4 kingfisher chicks I had to foster a few years back. Yikes ... the HORROR of that fresh ikan bilis smell lingering in the backyard. Hope these guys survive, sparrows are really cute birds.

Going to listen to Pachbel now. If all else fails, it's back to the books. Kumar and Clark will send me straight to a deep slumber, I'm sure of it.
