Just came back home, and in a MUCH better mood! It's amazing what dancing can do for you. Went to the Dance Revolution Fringe at UCC Courtyard today, it's a Lindy Hop performance cum workshop by Jitterbugs Swingapore. Didn't get to learn the East Coast Swing (oh well, learnt it before anyway, haha) cos I dashed back home to get some proper dance shoes. Really fun to meet some fellow Swing fanatics, and the music was YUMMY. LHE usually plays the authentic oldies, but Jitterbugs tend to play the more recent numbers like Michael Buble and Lavay Smith. Totally amazing night. Didn't get the chance to do aerials though, don't know if it's apt since the floor was a little packed. And the last time I did an aerial to an unsuspecting partner she literally flew away. =/

Just some observations .. seriously, the dance styles of LHE and Jitterbugs aren't really too different, although Jitts tend to dance the American form of Swing .. the Savoy style I think, or Hollywood style. Who cares .. they end up being the same! They did a performance of the Big Apple, and the Shim-Sham too. I was very impressed by the half-and-half show. 2 dancers, a male and female, dressed in weird clothes. On their left they wore skirts and a wig (think the hair's real for the female), and on their right they wore the good ole 1920's suspenders, zoot suit and zoot hat! So in one instant the lead becomes the follow, and vice versa. All they needed to do was to show either the left or right half of their torsoes to the audience and they change sex! A really cool idea I think. Yx social danced with this nice American guy .. the whole gang of Americans were there, and they really were cool people. Good at strutting their stuff too! Had a most enjoyable night doing social dancing on the floor. Was about to invite this nice girl from the recent beginner's class to dance with me, then I realised that she probably would get bored. 4 weeks just isn't enough to comfortably do variations and stuff on the floor. Therefore I changed my mind, and was just feeling bad about leaving her alone when one of the very good leads from Jitts asked her to dance.

On hindsight, I can't be bothered by the events that happened earlier in the day. Just dump those away, pick up the learning points and dump the nasty feelings, and go on. Shall trudge on!

Ah .. good old vintage Swing dancing. Always lifts the mood up!

"It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing!!"
