A year of dormancy ... I'm finally back to update this page! Totally inspired by other friends' blog pages. And it seems a nice way to keep track of my academic developments eh.
Felt overcome by stupidity (once again) today during tutorial. Why is it that those darned signs always lurk around unseen until a tutor points them out? The poor man looked simply jaundiced with hepatomegaly, and when the tutor came along, all of a sudden he had palmar erythema, spider naevi ... and no enlarged liver! Haha ... the follies of a student. Not too bad, we covered short cases in Hepatitis B and also a rheumatology case today on psoriatic arthritis. First time ever seeing Boutonneire's sign and psoriasis. We got rejected twice out of 4 patients though, really high rejection rates today.
Could have gone home by 1pm, but had to clerk and prepare cases for tomorrow's tutorial. Found this pleasant man who had alcoholic chronic liver disease, purpura, alcoholic fetor, gross hepatomegaly and spider naevi. Oooh, and what I thought were Dupuytren's contractures! Not confirmed though. Then by chance, I came across an unfortunate man with polyarthritis. Probably gout, from his history. And now I'm stuck with 2 choices for tomorrow's tutorial. Oh well. I HATE presenting for tutorials, but I guess it's necessary to practice and practice so I won't fumble during the exams. Still ... tomorrow's tutor is slightly scary. He smiles a lot. They both smile a lot. And that's REAL FREAKY.
