Borborygmi

Yes, having my stress diarrhoea again. Been in and out of the bathroom since the morning, but it's a great place to read Talley! Odd as it may sound, it's really quite enjoyable to sit down somewhere private (and without the distraction of a computer) to do some reading in earnest. Perhaps a hot lavender bath + good reading is in order? Nah. My books always end up wet when I do that. Half-tempted to listen to my own bowel sounds for borborygmi.

Now I'm seriously wondering if I'll actually be able to palpate a P2 or parasternal heave, if it ever comes to that. Aren't those incredibly uncommon and difficult to feel? Not to mention hearing an opening snap or a loud P2 too. Totally forgot what Dr. Hsu told us about presenting a murmur. Something like (in MS), "There is a loud S1 and a mid-diastolic rumbling murmur best heard over the mitral area using the bell, with the patient lying on the left lateral position. There were no other murmurs, and P2 was not loud." Or something like that. Hmmm .. sounds like something straight out of the textbook! Haha .. Dr. Hsu's really a walking Harrison's. I still remember that day when another doc asked him about the dosage of vancomycin, and he actually stated all the values per kg weight and the maximum dose. Sick eh. Shall strive to be like that, but my brain's not working well. Had been having funny dreams about my test. =( First, there were 2 testers for me. Then I flunked, and got locked up in the paediatrics ward. And another one about hearing squeaking, chattering noises while auscultating the heart. I claimed it was a rusty prosthetic heart valve. Oh, and talking about prosthetic valves, I've also totally forgotten how to present one. Think I've got to say whether it's a systolic or diastolic metallic sound, which valve I think has been replaced, whether it's a ball-and-cage or tilting disc valve, and whether the valve is working well and competent.

Shall finish up a little on DVT, then down to service one of my pumps. It's the Eheim pump feeding my venturi skimmer, and it seems to have been clogged up. Could be bits of carbon in it, or calcium carbonate deposits.
