A few laughs
Some stupid things that reefers do - I totally laughed my head off over the cat incident! Some snippets from a ReefCentral discussion =D
- Tested a tunze 6100 in my kitchen sink ("No honey, I don't know how the ceiling got wet")
NB: A Tunze 6100 is an incredible (and expensive) circulation pump that fires an impressive 12,000L/hr of water!
- Ran at my cat yelling at it to get off the tank only to have it fall in
- Many gulps of saltwater in starting siphon
NB: Guilty! I try not to think about the fish-poop in my mouth when that happens
-I pulled a running mag pump loose from an unglued return line... it's amazing how 950 GPH of water hitting the wall can make a man panic. My wife opened the office door.... looked in at me on the floor fighting the flowing water and then just closed the door.
Sounds darned familiar ... happened not once, but THREE TIMES!
-Cutting zoanthids, no gloves, nothing can happen to me, numb feeling in my gums, numb feeling in my mouth, tastes like I have an iron bar in my mouth, panic, punch up reefcentral for answers, search function doesn't work, panic, sit and wait too scared to tell the wife.
-Trying to take the hood off of my 135 by myself (on one else was home)...lift up one end and put some blocks under it, lift the other end and do the same....pick it up in the middle...clean and jerk into position...balance it...oooh, the power cord for the lights get snagged on the overflow...everything sways back and forth until the hood connects with my scalp and now I'm bleeding from my head and the cord is still stuck...I'm cursing, dogs are barking, blood is in my eyes....
"...oh yes, it's a very relaxing hobby"
