Finally back home. Feeling rather good right now, after 2 hours of really good physical exercise. Taught 2 of our guys the Russian Kick .. I think aerials get people excited. Somehow when people think of the Lindy, they always characterise it by the aerials. Which is kinda true, but after almost 8 decades of evolution, other dance forms have also taken up dips, throws and aerials. Although they are known by different names. Like aerials are known as "acrobatics" and dips known as "semi-acrobatics" in rock 'n roll. Got really irritated by my (ex) rock 'n roll teacher who kept thinking the Lindy's some new dance form! Was half-tempted to inform him that rock 'n roll actually evolved from jive, which evolved from swing, which evolved from the Lindy. Whoa. The only other dance I know of that has their own unique form of aerials is probably the latin dances like Salsa.

Finally done with the pesky writeups too. It's now like the calm before the storm. Trying to make use of this weekend to settle some stuff beforehand, before we all get geared up for the end-of-posting test. Dr. Tien's tutorial today was surprisingly good. Although, once again, I got tricked into thinking I was feeling a spleen. Dammit. Why do I always think masses are spleens?!? And this time I even thought I felt the splenic notch!! Turned out to be lymphoma, and the stuff I felt were grossly enlarged lymph nodes. Oh well. Wasn't too bad. EW did some cerebellar signs, while Stan examined an interesting case. We all got stumped by it. The patient had mild hepatomegaly, conjunctival pallor and pitting pedal oedema with no jaundice and no stigmata of chronic liver disease. He also had ascites. Liver was nontender and had a smooth surface. Differentials? It was difficult. Best we could come up with was HCC and acute hepatitis. Of course it could be fatty liver too. But in the end ... gah. Myeloma! This is bad. We're so bad at haematology. Anyway, Stan's been officially labelled as Da Freak. Who does 18-page writeups? He was punished to eating a solitary lunch today. EW and I refused to eat with him. Or get stained by his freakiness.

Then Dr. Tien invited us to one of his (in)famous peripheral blood film slideshows. As usual, we didn't understand most of what we were seeing. Come on ... it's already difficult enough to differentiate acute myeloid leukemia from acute lymphocytic leukemia clinically, and Dr. Tien was already talking about 7 different sub-classifications of ALL? Grr ... and one MO actually fell asleep right in front! Got some amusement out of guessing though. There was this weird cell with spikes coming out, and it couldn't be some stupid name like Hairy Cell, could it? Oh well, turned out to be hairy cell leukemia. =D Crazy haematologists. Stack of coin cells, Helmet cells, Bite cells, and today - hair cells and buttock cells!! Most imaginative. Think I'm definitely not cut out to be a haematologist. Although I really love the lab work they do .. exciting! The haematology department offices must be my fav. place in the whole SGH. Walking past the labs .. sigh. Reminds me of the bittersweet old UROP days. And the gross TCHS lab days. Koe Heong Yin, breathing down my neck all the time and asking Prof. Gopal about me. He can get really freaky, Prof. Gopal. He even tracked me down at DSO and kept track of my progress with my mentor! Eeeeksss....

Oh, and I went past Cold Storage and saw them selling a single pot of lovely succulents! Bought the pot, it's really really nice. Going to bring out 3 more pots of Sarracenia from the fridge tomorrow morning, the sleepyheads are finally coming out of dormancy. Yx bought a load of stuf to cook lunch for me. What's with her these days?? Hmmm ... I can sense something fishy coming up. Probably wants to ask for a favour or something. Had chunky soup with french loaves .. couldn't be bothered to toast them ... had a chicken pie, and I also saute'ed a platter of pea leaves (dou miao?) with abalone sauce and worcestershire sauce. Fusion cuisine! haha ... the greens turned out to be lovely.

Did some basic husbandry today, added more Ca(OH)2 to the tank, buffer and strontium. Tempted to buy new corals, but nah ... no time to view the tank for the coming fortnight. Test period!

OK, was really just blabbering. Non-stop. Need to get more sleep tonight, only managed 2.5 hrs last night due to gross writeups. And I finally found my last writeup at the dinner table. Was I reading it while having my morning coffee? Hmm .. retrograde amnesia!
