Mariah's got a new pet!

One of the neighbours found (yet another) injured bird in their garden, and gave it to us for nursing. Have never seen anything like this before - can someone give an ID? It's really very ornate, and makes loud rude noises. Irridiscent blues and greens all over, with rusty tawn on the chest and a black eye-band. Very pretty eh? It's now living with my old rescued pigeon, who's getting VERY attached to the family.

THe pigeon refuses to fly away, and chases after us (especially Mariah, who'll scream and flee into the house. Wierd.) for food, cuddles and clamouring onto our laps. It's really weird that a bird should behave this way. And the pigeon refuses to fly off too ...
