Had a really bruising time at school today. Arrived late for the grand ward round, and later started getting irritated by the other group that's also at CGH. They went into ALL the outpatient clinic rooms available. And my tutor went on paternal leave and will only be back next week. Had a tutorial by the head of ortho today, and shrank even more when the dratted EW started shooting out obscure answers. Hello ... posterior interosseous nerve? Goodness. She ought to be killed! (Dopey, do me that favour?) Half-thinking of going to visit the spinal TB patient, may be good for a writeup.

Now, I was expecting today's tutorial to be on physical examination - it turned out to be more theory than anything else, which was a disappointment. Still, I think I went home a little smarter than when I arrived at school, which is what it's really all about isn't it? Just gotta love Prof. Low - "make sure you learn one new thing a day, and that's enough." Wonder if it really IS enough for ortho though? Seems a daunting lot to learn.

Saw a few patients today, thanks to the resilience of my new groupmates. Sometimes, when you're feeling really tired, hanging around people with high motivation really helps. It's better than nothing, at least. Saw a trigger finger (WEIRDO PATIENT ALERT!!!), Baker's cyst (I think - the other differential is osteoarthritis but the lump felt kinda soft), fractured radius and coccyx, prolapsed intervertebral disc. And also an Xray of a young boy with a Grade 4 femoral epiphyseal fracture. For the morning ward round, saw a ray amputation (how gross can things be? A raw-looking, open wound on the foot due to a missing wedge of flesh!), an excised cyst and an ulcerating foot with claw toe. Looked up on claw toe and Wagner's classification of diabetic foot .. which reminds me. I'd better look up Garden's classification before I forget. Still have NO IDEA what Dr. Lam was talking about ... crisscrossing of the trebaculae and whatnot.

While fretting about finding a place to sleep, I finally realised - the car!! =D Good. At least it's an idea tucked away at the back of the head, lest I really need a good place to snooze one day.
