Updates for 25/5/05

-5ml DT's live phytoplankton
-1ml live oyster eggs
-3ml Salifert coralline aminoacids
-target-fed both colonies of acanthastrea, long-tentacled plate coral, Scolymia and RBTA
-RBTA moved to a new location and is stinging the plate coral
-part of Acropora got stung by the frogspawn coral just above it
-sand dollar shifted the single Acanthastrea polyp, rescued it from being half-buried in sand
-left with only 1 tilefish, damn it
-Chevron tang has not been seen for 2 days, I'm prepared for the worst. I hate tangs.

New 250W Radiums still not fired up yet, waiting to see a deal for a canopy-maker first. After I mount the parabolic reflectors the bulb will be 1 inch from the water surface, which is too dangerous so I'm holding it off until I can get a new cover for the tank. Extremely hot halide bulb + water splash = cracked (or exploded) UV sleeve on the bulb.

Also, holding off the idea of purchasing a new skimmer. Even the miniature beckett (24 inches tall) will not fit into the cabinet, and I'd have to install it INSIDE the sump, which has no space for now. Placing it outside the sump is out of the question, it's just too unsightly. Waiting for a good deal on 2nd hand Macro AS250 needle wheel skimmer to replace my current AS100.

Just had a look at other people's skimmers on reef central, those americans are a little crazy. THEN again, all their equipment's either stashed away in an adjacent "tank room" or down in the basement, unlike here in Singapore where we either try to squeeze everything under the tank (ME), or have equipment all around the tank (other people ..)

Next post will be a showcase of different makes of skimmers, and how pathetic mine is. Haha ..
