New toy revealed
My Reef Maniacs hang-on-tank (HOT) fluidised calcium reactor! =D
It's not running yet, gotta wait till I'm free to buy this reducer to feed water into the reactor. Basically the water input into the reactor is one of those small transparent tubings you see, but my aquarium pipes are all at least 1/2 inch in diameter, so I need to purchase a pipe reducer to reduce the piping.
Tank water's fed into the reactor, while CO2 bubbles into the reactor through the bubble counter (small blue-capped container on the left) via the blue CO2-resistant tubing. The small water pump at the bottom of the reactor sucks the CO2 in, chops it up finely and mixes it with the tankwater to form carbonic acid which dissolves the aragonite media (calcium carbonate) that's the sandy stuff in the reactor. Calcium-laden water then returns via another transparent tube into the tank.
Can't wait to get it set up!
