Went to Sentosa last evening for a bit of fun in the sun. Had quite a feast later on! First off, the Sakei sushi branch there is FANTASTIC. Awesome service, food was uncannily good - reminiscent of Minoru restaurant's quality - and the view was breath-taking. I ain't eating at any other Sakei shushi branch after this experience. Brought a portable BBQ pit, and we had too much food ... ate only half of our pork knuckle (yes, I'm crazy ... bringing pork knuckles to the beach), cheese sausages, 1 steak each, chicken franks, grilled garlic bread and some very unpalatable squids. Well they were fine, if not for the darkness. I burnt them. Ended up cooking in moonlight.
It was a little odd last night, was like an all-out party celebration for myself. I brought half my wardrobe in the back of the van, and had 3 changes of clothes - got into some funky purple-and-white striped short-sleeves and ended up at the beach bar at Tanjong beach - IMO, the most decent beach bar ever. We were both rather shy (ok, fine .. I confess. *I* was shy.) so we didn't use the outdoors jacuzzi they had. Music was great, ambience was unparallelled, and the long island tea - strong. I have NO IDEA WHY, but long island tea *always* knocks me out. Several beers, a whole bottle of port, Johnny Walker etc .. I still go round alive and kicking - but a single long island tea, and wham. I had to be driven home.
On a very very very bad note, I lost something extremely dear to me last night. Drove all the way back to look for it, but I suppose someone else picked it up. Well, it was expensive, but that's not really the point. I just hate losing things. =( Well, I'm giving it 1 week to miraculously turn up, and if it doesn't, I'd just have to bite the bullet and get another one I guess. Just take it as paying back for bad karma.
Going down to Joe's place this afternoon to pick up a couple of Montipora capricornis frags, and possibly a new calcium reactor. After losing my stuff last night, I'm feeling bad about the reactor.
