Last day of matric fair turned out to be some sort of yelling competition. Social & Ballroom was just beside us, while political association was opposite us, and all 3 of our booths were having a blast .. erm blasting music, that is. S&B are part of CAC, so they wisely chose a spot slightly further away from us so that we won't end up clashing. Political association was fricking irritating though. Who the hell prefers to listen to a certain dynasty patriarch yakking away?

Thank goodness I brought mega-speakers with a subwoofer. We blew them away. And S&B, guitar, resonance etc were happy since our speakers drew the crowds to the entire booth as well.

Practices tonight, sigh ... beginning to wish for a quiet life, taking on the passive role.

Anyway, took a look at refugium this morning, coralline algae explosion - woohoo!! BTW, this is the only algae we ever want inside a tank - pretty pink, orange, red and purple encrusting calcacerous algae that coat the bare rocks and give the entire tank the characteristic purplish look of a reef tank. Been having lousy coralline growth for the last 2 years, since they require high calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and low phosphate to flourish - all of which have been settled ever since I set the calcium reactor up. It's got to be one of my best buys so far. The little acrylic chamber that could.

Entire week has been nightmarish, rushing around juggling between school and life. Anyway we were having a discussion on dog language. One of the CSI episodes in season 1 claim that dogs do not go "woof", and one of the CSI said that barking simply meant, "blah blah blah". At which point, yx vigorously disagreed. Anyone who keeps dogs would. They definitely DO go "woof", especially when they are dreaming. So far I've been able to discern 3 major types of dreams, based on the quality of the "woof".

1. The staccato "woof"

Each Woof lasts for a fraction of a second, breathy, rather forceful yet about only 10 Decibels. Most probably a dream about seeing another dog pissing in my garden, or Maria trying to throw away an oh-so-large bone that he has been unable to fit into his mouth and has been kicking around instead.

2. The happy "woof"

Also a short Woof, but with a nasal quality and much more muffled. Usually accompanied by twitching of the paws. Most probably a dream about Mom coming back with a can of chow and making him earn his prize by jumping on her legs. Might also be a Woof of longing - which is usually demonstrated when he sees me carrying a cage of mice around.

3. The whining "woof"

As the name goes, it's more of a whine than a Woof. A long, drawn-out soft wail. I usually do not hesitate to wake him up at this point - it's never nice to get nightmares. Probably having recollections of me disappearing for NS or for the US trip.

Talking about mice - quite a few of mine have died, they refused to eat the food that my mom bought for my sister's guinea pig. Weird!!
