At the pinnacle of stupidity.

The DIY hood took a remarkably short time to make, I spent a total of about 2 hours on the woodworking. And now for the ultimate stupidity. I failed to include extra allowance for the 0.5" thickness of the wood!! So, my hood is now a total of 1 inch short from back to front - I sacrificed the breadth for a proper length after I realised my mistake.

What would have been wiser, however, was to throw away $14 worth of wood and re-order 2 pieces now 1 inch longer; Now, either I've got to live with a fricking 1" gap in the hood, or re-do the entire thing at $40.

With polyuthrane wood glue all over my fingers now and feeling extremely unhappy.

The end-product looked really good though, given my very first attempt at woodworking. The resident engineer is back to the rescue. After a bout of laughing at me and calling me names starting from Mr. Carpenter to the eventual Idiot, she's now hard at work with AutoCad drawing up 3D images for me so I can get the right-sized wood planks next time.

Somebody shoot me.
