Time's starting to fly - days are passing by so quickly. Is it a sign of not fully-utilising them?
Damn, I need to start on a new hood! But sob sob sob .. no TIME! Maybe NY's resolution? Sigh. Also, time to do water change tomorrow, hehe. OK, shan't wait for NY to have a resolution. Today - going to dig out yx's CAD blueprint for the hood and just troop down to order. It's not making the hood that's difficult - it's getting my sorry ass off the seat that's hard.
Had fun curling yx's hair last night using this electric curler thing that I got her for Xmas. She did the straightening iron on me and hello - it looks like SHIT. Ever seen sedgegrass-looking things poking out from a head? =(
As for the dumb sentosa event, so far I'm done with:
1) Talk powerpoint slides and videos
2) Webpage (semi-revamped and updated) - yes, for those not in the know, I've had 2 webpages up since 1998. Sadly not maintained though.
3) Awaiting import paperwork and CITES certification from the other side.
4) Gathered most of the materials for the display. *Most* of them. Might end up having too many display plants, and currently having a bit of a mental block regarding the faux pond. I want to display Utricularia, but pretty sure no one will be interested. Dumb typical singaporean gardeners. They go for the huge gaudy hybrid nonsense. Roses. Hibiscus. Cattleya. Dendrobium (the shame!). Is it any wonder species are dying out?
Awaiting:
1) Making a draft exhibit (Must make sure everything looks correct, since designs on paper do not always translate well.) I've moved most of the material onto the balcony (where I have a free reign, free from the prying eyes of neighbours and parents).
2) Finding a large tree trunk for the biotope exhibit.
3) Printing certain things. Posters and such.
4) Taking better photos to use.
5) Deciding whether or not to dispaly Aldrovanda. If people don't appreciate Utricularia, it'll be all the worse for Aldrovanda.
6) Preparing pots ready with soil for upcoming shipment, since I won't have the luxury of proper gardening when school starts.
7) Doing final water change for fish tank in preparation for CNY.
Right-o. Sneak preview of some of the exhibits. =) Expect a total of 70 plants in the biotope exhibit and 300 table exhibits at my display, with representatives from 10 of 15 CP genera. Decided not to go with Darlingtonia. There's no one there to keep putting ice blocks on the dumb plant. Other genera that are missed out:
Byblis - not enough advanced notice for me to sow seeds
Drosophyllum - could never grow this shit anyway
Heliamphora - same as above
Triphyophyllum - no one has this plant. No one.

1) Nepenthes rafflesiana babies. No idea how to display these.

2) Nepenthes ampullaria basal rosettes.

3) Nepenthes gracilis

Nepenthes x ventrata .. will be displayed hanging on a tree trunk. Which I haven't found yet.

Utricularia aurea. How to display? Transparent tank with magnifying glass?
Might leave out the flytraps ... people keep playing with them, and I get upset .. might shoo them all away.
OMG Brownie's so adorable!!! He's lying flat on his back to sleep, and is SNORING! =) Heehee .. bathed him in parents' bathtub yesterday (shhh...) with warm water since it's so cold.
I give up on the insomnia. Mr Ye, I'm going to look terrible during drinks tonight, been having morning awakenings for the last 2 days.
