Flurry of overseas and local calls all through yesterday. Australian shipment isn't going to arrive until a freaking 3 weeks later, so I called the organisers to say I can't participate. No temperate plants at all! Oh dear .. they sounded so disappointed that I felt really bad. Eventually, we settled on still having a display, but only the tropical stuff. So tentatively, the entire display will consist of some 20 hanging Neps and a really minuscle 4' x 2' display consisting of tonnes of Drosera filiformis, some Drosera intermedia, ground-dwelling stuff like Nepenthes ampullaria, a couple of Sarracenia and one or two flytraps.
Told them I really need about 6 months' advance notice for shows so that the dormancy periods can be bypassed using GA3, but anyway the conversations ended with them having the illusion of me coming back to participate next year as well. I suspect we won't even have time to eat, sleep and breathe, let alone organise anything at all.
I guess it's a blessing in disguise! So much less work and logistics, and tropical plants are so easy to display that all I've got to do from now till then is to wait, hahaha. Might even omit the fogging device on the ground display.
One of them also wrote out a press release, and I told her explicitly not to mention names. Totally no desire for further publicity. Crap. Why did I even participate in the first place?
Alrighty then, off to do some last minute re-drafting before I set off for lessons.
