OOOOOOOOOOH!! Just received my Genlisea margaretae seeds by post! I am absolutely thrilled. This Madagascan species has just been fairly recently introduced to cultivation, and if it germinates, it'll be one of the first (if not the first) to be available in asia.

Sigh, I really hate salsa (no offence, Nick). I'm only going for lessons cos yx wants to learn it. I really hate it. It doesn't give me the kind of tingling, groovy sensation that lindy or samba does. I also absolutely refuse to switch partners during the lessons, so it'll be a LOOOOONG time before I'll be leading anyone for a dance. You know, it's like when a big band piece comes blaring out or when Kaoma's "Bantu" comes on, I'll be jumping in my seat and dragging people out for a dance. But when Ricky Martin's "Besos De Fuego" starts playing I'll sink as low as possible into my seat and pray hard no one will ask me for a salsa. I hate it, hate it, HATE IT!

Was doing a bit of thinking, about my patterns of preference. Seems like I detest over-done things. I ain't going to do things that a million other people are into. There are a thousand and one salsa venues here, and any dance event would feature at least a rhumba or rock n' roll piece, but I'd be lucky if I get to dance a samba one time out of every 3 events. Perhaps an alternative manifestation of social phobia?

And yet, I promised myself I'll break away from the latin dances, and learn at least 1 standard. Waltz, perhaps. Because quickstep is THE SILLIEST DANCE I've ever seen. The tainting of good ole' big band music!
